This year’s annual ANPD convention, to be held July 14-17 in Las Vegas, promises to provide even more opportunities to advance the specialty practice of nursing professional development (NPD) than ever before. The Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD), recently awarded the honor of Accreditation with Distinction from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, will offer sessions on Leadership, Career Development, Professional Partnerships, Evidence-based Practice/Research, Technology and Nursing Professional Development. This year’s theme, “Aspire to Excel”, capitalizes on the overarching mission of the organization.
Nurses will be able to explore different choices to enhance their professional development and practice with education tracks that are divided into several different categories to meet the needs of novice, competent and expert NPD specialists. Michele Noble, ANPD’s Chairperson of its Convention Planning Committee, says that the meeting was designed to offer “many opportunities … to excel in obtaining knowledge and ideas for change in our current healthcare environment.” Beyond the educational sessions, Noble advises attendees to also choose options from the pre-convention workshops, keynote addresses, concurrent sessions, and poster presentations, when designing their convention schedules.
Empowering nurses to improve processes, help problem solve with a fresh perspective and more, the ANPD Annual Convention attracts NPD specialists who want to:
Registration is still open for the convention; however, the early bird deadlines to receive reduced registration fees have expired.
Highlights of this year’s program include multiple opportunities to network with professional development experts and peers, such as a popular “Speed Networking” event. Attendees can also explore the exhibit hall to see the latest products and resources available. “Our vendors have some exciting products that support our professional practice in new and thought-provoking ways,” says Noble. Also, while enjoying all the ANPD Annual Convention has to offer, attendees should also take some time “to explore the sights, sounds and shows that make Las Vegas the glittering jewel of the desert,” she says. To stay “in the know,” attendees can download the ANPD Annual Convention mobile app to receive updates and important information before, during and after the conference.
The thought leader and resource for nursing practice development, ANPD’s mission is to “inspire members to excel” by providing educational services, networking, advocacy and research to support the unique needs of nursing professional development.
