The Society of Pediatric Nurses (SPN) will hold its annual conference and expo April 21 to 24, 2016 at the Hilton Minneapolis in Minnesota. The SPN 2016 Annual Conference is uniquely designed for pediatric nurses and professionals with an interest in pediatric healthcare who want to stay abreast of the latest advances in the care of children from infancy through adolescence.

The conference provides insight into the latest evidence in pediatric care and its application in the practice setting. Attendees will be able to network with 500 other pediatric nurses and share best practices and success stories in pediatric care across the nation, while enjoying a bustling exhibit hall featuring the latest products and services that support pediatric patient care delivery.

Advancing Pediatric Nursing and Evidence-Based Practice

At this year’s SPN 2016 Annual Conference, some of the learning objectives are as follows:

  • Advance the pediatric nursing specialty through networking and sharing of best practices.

  • Promote research and evidence-based pediatric nursing practice.

  • Foster the development of pediatric nurses through education to promote quality care in a complex healthcare environment.

The SPN Annual Conference will feature four days of specialized programming that feature hot topics in pediatric nursing. Special events include a welcome reception, awards ceremony, and access to exhibitors featuring the newest technologies, resources, books, and more.

Donna Hartley will deliver the Opening Keynote entitled ‘Fire Up Your Life! A Journey to Transformation,’ and the two Plenary Sessions will respectively cover the uses of music therapy in pediatric settings, and results from a national pediatric nursing survey.  To close out the conference, Marcus Engel will present ‘The Other End of the Stethoscope’ focusing on how healthcare providers sustained body and mind through incredible trauma.

Also this year, SPN is supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities – Upper Midwest. SPN encourages attendees to collect soda pop can tabs to bring to the conference. Please visit the 2016 Annual Conference website for more information about the Twin Cities Ronald McDonald House Charities, home of the first pop can tabs collection, and to learn ways you can prepare for this year’s conference service project.

Two hospital tours are available for attendees. Join SPN on a tour of the University of Minnesota Masonic Hospital and the Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. These tours provide the opportunity to observe how area children’s hospitals operate, learn how they manage day-to-day challenges and gain insights to take back to your workplace. Preregistration is required.

And be sure to check out the “Mobile Technology for APRN Education: Improving Transition to Practice” session which is being presented by Amanda Sylvester from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital on Sat 4/23, and sponsored by Lippincott Solutions
