Thousands of nurse leaders and executives from across the nation will be Baltimore-bound later this month to attend AONE 2017 — the annual meeting of the American Organization for Nurse Executives. This year’s conference takes place at the Baltimore Convention Center March 29 through April 1 and, in addition to top-notch speakers, sessions and exhibits, will mark the 50th anniversary of organization.
Researcher, storyteller and New York Times bestselling author Brené Brown, PhD, will deliver the opening keynote address March 30. (March 29 is a preconference day of workshops.) Dr. Brown’s Power of Vulnerability talk is one of the top five most-viewed TED talks in the world.
At AONE 2017, Dr. Brown will discuss Daring Leadership. Her 2-hour session is designed to provide nurse leaders with actionable strategies for leaning into discomfort, embracing vulnerability, and providing courageous leadership.
Other notable plenary speakers are also scheduled to speak throughout the meeting:
Intermingled among the plenary talks are nearly 50 concurrent sessions March 30, March 31 and April 1. These sessions will address a range of subjects important to nurse executives, including transformation leadership, evidence-based practice, nurse engagement, staffing, and shared governance.
Attendees looking to get in on the conversation, or to simply glean advice from others, will have their opportunity through more than a dozen roundtables. Conversations will address everything from patient safety and caring for unique populations to nurse fatigue and finding joy in practice.
Ignite sessions are also on tap. These talks are known for their brevity (5 minutes!) and their passion. Subjects range but will include innovation, recruitment, and nurse leadership by gender and generation. Discussion follows.
Our very own manager of customer development, Tonya Coram, BSN, will present a Customer Connection session on Thurs March 30, at 12:30pm in the Exhibit Hall. We’ll be showing you how our best-in-class suite of evidence-based institutional software can help to guide your facility’s practice and deliver EMR-based care. Stop by to take in a live demonstration and to learn how Lippincott Solutions can benefit you, and enter to win a FREE FitBit. We’ll also be in booth #707, so please stop by and visit us.
A slate of poster presentations, exhibits, and networking events — including the AONE Foundation Groovin Soiree, which will celebrate the organization’s 50 years of leadership 1960s-style — will round out the event. This year’s conference is a golden opportunity for nurse leaders to step away from the day-to-day and learn, laugh and live it up.
Hope to see you there!
